Life N’ Times O’ Carrie Gates - CopyCamp thoughts…

overly late, but noteworthy as it is…

Life N’ Times O’ Carrie Gates - CopyCamp thoughts…

mon amie Carrie, plus c’est talent. Finally got round to reading this, a fitting summary of the copycamp, a toronto-based, well meant chaotic vortex that picked up interested parties, transplanted them from round the country, and allowed them to duel it out over the confines of two days, with respect to the concept of intellectual property and all the ramifications thereof. Much fun. Wiki’d here, flickr’d here. I definitely dig the idea of the unconference. All the fun of a batch of conversations with experts and enthusiasts, none of the tedious sitting through canned lecture-powerpoint presentations that have bored two full generations of humanity.

lokey drops some alternate setup breaks

30 April, 2007 (19:12)

Hello folks. Ive been remiss of late with my updates, with the excuse of life, the universe and everything. But rest assured i have been playing regularly, and have a tasty backlog of goodness, just begging to be rolled off the ramp. Ive been toying with a couple different hardware/software configurations, which has had my head tangled up in send/return routing for weeks now. A combination of simplification and innovation has improved matters.

In celebration, im letting out a tasty little teaser, a 46 minute montage of recent madness. I trust it goes down well. Peace…

inuit radio fillin during ’she be she strike’

27 March, 2007 (20:09)

for those who may be into some interesting cultural heritage from the north of Canada, and i know at least one, help yourself to this tasty little audio treat: a selection of recordings made by an inuit janitor and his buds, during a cbc radio strike, circa 1983. I found this via WFMU’s Beware of the Blog, and felt the need to pass it along. Ive got a directory of the recordings here. Enjoy…

Internet radio may be driven out of business within weeks by a Copyright Royalty Board decision that gives record companies a royalty rate that exceeds 100% of most webcasters’ total revenues…

14 March, 2007 (20:48)

not that i consider this in any way a business, much more on the order of public service, but as one who provides online audio content, i can’t help but quake at the notion of massive crackdowns on internet broadcasts, no matter the nature of the content. As a Canadian, i can only hope for a more sensible approach, but i urge those of you living down southways to get your act together and step up to the plate, so to speak, and prevent the death of internet radio, as detailed below…

A bright and shining approach to music and copywrite issues, from a US congressman?!?
