And the last for the moment, a much more recent, post-live 8 beta enabled vocoded up style. More akin to my current gig kit, for all you promoters out there ;]

Hi folks. Plenty of works, too little time, coupled with a snails pace of an upload speed, means for sporadic posting schedules. But now is the time, here’s a batch of sets for ya’ll, dig in…

a new track swirled out of some recent collaborations towards a monome-focused compilation for Summer Rain promotions. We’ve had a recent string of labour issues here in ottawa, what with the transit union strike, conflicts between the TA union cupe 4600 and the actual TAs, and issues revolving around the recent dismisal and arrest of a physics prof at OttawaU for his efforts at encouraging self-directed learning and general malcontentism. Anyhow, it’s had me thinking of the state of the union, and thats a pretty appalling circumstance to consider. This track arose out of it all, based around an excellent recording of Mario Savio at the Proulx Hall free speech rally at Berkley in 1964. It’s very moving, and I hope my attempts to give its spirit new light are well received. My best to all who seek to free the cogs of the machine…

Hey folks. One more little number for you all, sifted to the top of of a frighteningly large list of recorded material i have at hand, another live session from some months back. Plenty more on the horizon, so stay tuned; February is Record Production Month, and while I doubt I’ll get a whole album finalized, I’m going to contribute a track along with the Miximal folks, so new tracks ahead. Peace…

this year is bound to be a productive one for yours truly, and i’m keen to kick things off on a solid footing. With that said, here’s my current foot forward, the latest mix to be polished sufficiently for general perusal. A late november radio session, it’s a fairly developed example of my current live remix concept. Big things on the horizon folks…until then…

succulent well wishes in the holiday style
Hello to all my friends and loved ones. Just a short note to wish all of you a joyous and peaceful season and a festive and rowdy new year. It’s always a very great pleasure and blessing to have such a brilliant and vibrant life, and i owe it all to the warmth and friendship of my friends and family; my collective voluntary society that lights my path and fills my world with such amazing beauty. All the best to you along the most primal and basic pathways of life…

derivative matters of silence a la cage…
I suppose the thing that really bugs me is all the discussion surrounding the act of selling or owning a work of silence. 4′33” is basically a rebuttal to structured and orchestrated approaches to music. Its a matter of context, and of random happenstance. Any visceral enjoyment of a length of recorded silence in a piece is due to the nature of the environment in which it is reenacted. Its a bloody paradigm shift, the shift towards holistic musical approaches, the recognition that everything is music, even our responses to it. It’s obviously an important work in and of itself, but the essence of its point demands we allow for derivative and cumulative work. Hanging this guy batt out to dry in the courts for what amounts to a citation is fairly ludicrous. Imagine if einstein had held a patent on the general theory? You can’t expect to retain control over statements about the essential nature of the system.

Just finished tinkering with this recording i made last week at TeddyKGB’s Freestyle Fridays, an amazing little house cypher session that’s been running here in Ottawa over the past year. Ive been showing up to drop beats for an amazing cadre of rappers, and as i recently picked up a zoom h2, ive finally been able to do some recordings. Not too shabby, plenty to be learned though, so keep your eyes peeled for further recording sessions. Til then, hope this tides you over, think of it as a live feed into an awesome little soiré. Featuring words by Gravity, Dynamo Nonprofet, Teddy KGB, Boris the Bad Citizen and la Peche (let me know if ive missed anyone guys!) Peas…

This has been a long time in coming, but check out this longset i played almost a year ago (blush, i really need to get under this set backlog). I just went ahead and ripped the whole of ‘bender’s big score’ to my turntable, and it proved to be an awesome set of scratch samples. Enjoy…

stochasticJuly24_ExcessiveMarketTinkerings_103bpm
Hey folks, just in time for a bit of long weekend action, for those in north america, at least. We reach back to a set i played last july, well in advance of the rumblings of the global markets, a little rough round the edges initially, but it’s spent a little time under my psuedocritical cutting board, and im quite pleased with the result. Check it out…

Hi folks. After a few weeks of wrestling with wordpress 2.6 in my spare time, ive finally tamed the login issues ive had, and back in posting form. For those unenlightened out there, the secret is to disable the plugins, guys :]
Anyhow, back in the saddle, with a fresh new mix for yall. Its a tasty little number i played at the start of the month for my radio show, Stochastic Resonance on CKCU. We’ve got a fund drive coming up, so ill plug that now and get it resonating in your brain for a spell.
Without further ado, with only minor spit and polish and level correcting, here you go…
